Jake Sligh ...

1. How did you become a part of MTF?
Aaron and I had been in a few bands that either played once and stopped or never made it out of the garage. We both felt a call in our lives to take the talent God had given us and totally give it back to Him. We began playing and praying together several times a week. God has opened a lot of doors and we have a peace in Him that He will provide and if its His will for us to continue, then we know doors will always open. Its just been an awesome thing to be used by God when I have so little to offer Him.

2. What inspired you to become a musician?
I was in sixth grade when I met TJ Johnson, he was definitely the coolest person I had ever met in my eleven years of existence, and he played guitar. So I had to have one. As I began to practice and learn, I found out that I was kind of good at it...which is not a common thing with me. lol So I just had this urge to become better and better. I have since leared that this was all part of our Sovereign God's plan for my life...on whatever level it may be.

3. Besides the instrument you play for MTF, what other instruments do you play?
Besides guitar, I play bass guitar. I play it every Sunday with our church's worship band. I also did some recording on our first album with a litte mandolin action. My grandfather bought me a banjo for Christmas...still working on that one.

4. Who are some of your musical influences?
David Crowder, Delirious?, Coldplay, Third Day, Matt Redman, and Switchfoot.

5. What do you believe is your role in missions?
God uses me in missions in various ways. I support missions by going, giving, and most definitely by praying.

6. A random fact about Jake…
I am the unauthorized body double for Kip Dynamite.
